Communications support to the GATC in its engagement on Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF)

Grantee: Campaign For Nature (selected by GATC)

Geographic Focus Global

Duration: June 2026 – December 2026

About the Project

The Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) is a proposed new private and public investment fund that seeks to incentivise Tropical Forest Countries (TFCs) to preserve intact forests.  Indigenous Peoples and local communities are critical partners to manage and conserve the world’s remaining intact forests; the TFFF could provide a significant increase in funding for Indigenous Peoples and local communities in recognition of their role as critical forest guardians.

JFF has supported the GATC to engage with the governance of the TFFF and in a co-design process to develop the Financing Allocation Mechanism for Indigenous Peoples and local communities within the TFFF to ensure that a minimum of 20% of resources allocated to TFCs will flow to Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

JFF is supporting Campaign for Nature to provide communications support to the GATC, to enable the GATC grassroots organisations and leaders to be better informed and engage regarding the TFFF in a culturally relevant manner, so the communities and organisations can advocate in the development of the TFFF.

About the GATC:

The Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (GATC) is an Indigenous-led global network, governed by indigenous peoples and local community organisations across the topical belt, which represents the needs of 36M people in forest territories in Asia, Africa and Latin America. By participating in democratic processes, the GATC advocates for land rights, direct financing, respect of traditional knowledge, protection of life and the right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) for Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

About Campaign for Nature:

Campaign for Nature (CfN) is a global campaign working to secure ambitious action for nature conservation, biodiversity finance, and Indigenous Peoples and local communities leadership within international policy processes.
