Grantee: Instituto Centro de Vida (ICV)
Subgrantee: Centro de Inteligência Territorial (CIT), Trase
Geographic Focus Brazil, Amazon Basin
Duration: May 2025 – December 2026
The project aims to enhance data transparency and traceability in the beef and soy supply chains, which are critical for addressing environmental concerns linked to deforestation and land-use change in Brazil. It seeks to provide key stakeholders, including consumer markets, investors, civil society and enforcement agencies in both Brazil and importing countries, with improved access to actionable information that supports better decision-making and enforcement.
The project focuses on three main objectives. First, it aims to strengthen the information-enabling environment for environmental compliance by incorporating new and relevant data into Trase’s existing platform. These improvements will help users better understand the supply chains and identify connections between sourcing regions, companies, and deforestation risks. Second, the project will support more targeted risk assessments related to compliance with Brazil’s Forest Code. Finally, the project will deliver key recommendations to promote deforestation and conversion free supply chains that comply with Brazilian environmental regulations. These recommendations will be informed by the project’s analysis and findings, offering practical guidance for policymakers, companies, and civil society actors.
