Strengthening and Expanding the Origens Brasil® Network

The Origens Brasil® network connects together companies and producers in Indigenous Lands and Conservation Units in the Amazon, to promote ethical trade and traceability of NTFPs (non-timber forest products) and in doing so, value the peoples of the forest and the living Amazon. 

In this context, ethical trade refers to the respect of traditional communities’ way-of-life, payment of fair prices, transparent communications, and frequent dialogue between stakeholders in commercial relationships. Origens Brasil® network deploys a guarantee system to ensure this and a seal on consumer products identifies the origin and imparts visibility to the populations involved, while enabling the sharing of their stories.

Jacobs Futura Foundation (JFF) is supporting Imaflora to strengthen and expand the Origens Brasil® network, which will enable increased trade transactions and communities engaged in ethical trade. To achieve this, the funding will be used to expand operations into a new territory, implement a new communications strategy and engagement plan, and strengthen the traceability platform.
